The Christmas Holiday in ski country is so festive and fun. You don’t have to dream of a White Christmas, since ski resorts make snow and assure decent ski conditions for December skiers. They decorate their slopes with snow, and the slopeside village with Christmas trees and wreaths and more to welcome families on winter vacation.
Santa Sunday at Sunday River just might be the most festive day on the slopes… now in its 15th year, 250 Santas ski and ride for a photo opp at Sunday River on Dec 6. You have to see the sea of red to believe it- each Santa donates to the Sunday River fund and enjoys two free lift tickets for their holiday efforts.
Many ski resorts celebrate the holidays with Fireworks, horse drawn sleigh rides, hot cocoa parties around a bonfire near the base, and visits from St Nick on the slopes. December is a wonderful time to get out on the slopes, kick off your ski season, and just say no to the crowded shopping mall, opting for good old fashioned fresh air and family skiing.
Happy snowy Holidays! Merry White Christmas and See you on the slopes.
