Haslital Switzerland is one of the best ski resorts for families in the Swiss Alps. Its scenic, fun and offers plenty of ski terrain for everyone. Meiringen Hasliberg Lift Company – also referred to as Haslital Ski Region is part of the Jungfrau, a beautiful ski resort in the Bernese Oberland. Haslital’s three connected ski regions include Käserstatt-Hochsträss and Mägisalp-Haagen, and Planplatten – also referred to as Alpen Tower. Modern gondolas and chairlifts, including two six packs, serve 60 kilometers of prepared slopes. The views of the Alps, the Jungfrau and Eiger, Wetterhorn, Titlis Glacier and the Lake Brienz below are superb.
Haslital offers skiers and riders well groomed pistes and trails, nothing too difficult, making it perfect for families. Snowboarders at Haslital love the natural gullies, halfpipes and ridges off Meiringen Hasliberg, while young families enjoy Bidmi Skihäsliland – a wonderful learning area with a magic carpet, beginner lifts, a fairy tale house, and an igloo village.
Haslital’s legend of the trolls, muggestutz, delights kids throughout the ski resort, telling the animated story of local mountain trolls to the delight of Swiss children.
Hasliberg’s slopes feature classic Swiss Chalet and Huts where cheese is stored in the summer as farmers work these hillside with their cattle. The old Häägen Hut at Mägisalp and the more modern Balis Chalet are both great for Swiss lunch outside on the deck or inside the cozy chalets.
Haslital’s Planplatten summit lodge features a beautiful panorama restaurant Alpen Tower at 7,381′, a must for a scenic drink at the Alpen Tower Bar. The kids will like the Muggestutz display of trolls downstairs in the lodge. But the 360 views are the highlight of this high mountain lodge – you can see The Rothorn and the Jungfrau peaks, as well as Titlis Glacier in nearby Engelberg. Haslital and Engelberg are so close they could connect ski resorts with a few lifts. Haslital is actually in The Jungfrau Region, just not as famed as the ski resorts of Wengen,Grindelwald and Murren-Schilthorn – arguably a good thing for skiers here.
Haslital has lots to do for ski families, the ski slopes offer an Audi Snow cross park at Hääggen-Mägisalp, a Snow Park for free skiing and riding, and night skiing. Haslital also has sledding and family toboggan parties, ice skating and even Bavarian curling. Hasliberg Meiringen also has extensive snowshoe trails, winter hiking (winter wandering) and cross country ski trails through the beautiful Gadmen Valley and region.
Ski Lodging in Haslital
Hotel Viktoria is an affordable, fun family place to stay when skiing Hasliberg, located up on the mountain in Hasliberg-Reuti just a few steps to the Gondola, a short tram or bus ride from the Meiringen Train station, with views of the ski slopes and lifts. Kids will like the game room, buffet style family dining and parents might reminisce at this dormitory style lodging, formerly owned by the Methodist church, now Dutch owned and minimal in decor but prime for first tracks. Wifi is in the lobby and library only.
The Wetterhorn Hotel in Hasliberg Hohflu is a 1907 chalet, for posh luxury on-mountain lodging, completely redone to raves from guests. Or you can lodge in Meiringen at the base of the tram near the Train station at Hotel Sherlock Holmes – the legendary fictional character is memorialized here in a museum, or stay at the more upscale Hotel Victoria.
