Kirkwood just 35 miles south of Heavenly, is one of Tahoe’s more challenging mountains. With the highest base elevation at 7,800′, Kirkwood gets the deepest, driest snow on its double black diamond terrain. Kirkwood is known amongst experts for serious steep and deep including the legendary “Wall.” However, Kirkwood has ample lower mountain terrain to lure families to the 2,300-acre ski area.
