Corvatsch at Silvaplana St Moritz

St Moritz is a legendary ski resort. It’s a top Swiss ski resort town, with four ski areas, and more fun than one can stand – with the proper funding to enjoy. Corviglia – the largest, in town, Corvatsch, Diavolezza and Lagalb.

Corvatsch is the next biggest of St Moritz’s ski areas, with Corviglia being the heart and soul. Corviglia is where the freeriders and terrain park lovers go, but you’ll find some fun pistes here too from the tram, served by a chairlift and TBar.

Corvatsch is best in the afternoon, as the afternoon sun hits these slopes later. This is St Moritz highest skiing from the tram at 3,303 meters, 10,836’. With 35 marked pistes, served by a total of 19 ski lifts there’s plenty of skiing here for a few days of exploration

Corvatsch’s terrain park at mid mountain is crazy with big jumps and rails where they host the World Free Skiing event every March. This big event is marketed as Silvaplana World Free Skiing – referencing the nearby town – but the venue is Corvatsch, and its part of St Moritz ski region – all on the same ticket.

Corvatsch means large raven– and locals say its because this mountain is breathtaking, soaring as the highest peak, and free as a bird in nature. The snowboarder and freeskiers seem to think so too.

Corvatsch on Mountain Chalets

La Chüdera is the place for a mid-mountain cocoa or café with pastry between your Corvatsch fun laps.

Restaurant Alpetta is charming, a classic mid-mountain hut. Try the housemade pasta, the BBQ, the salads are actually bountiful and fresh too. There is something remarkable clean and green about Swiss lettuce and their salad ingredients of beets and carrots. Enjoy a cozy table inside or the sun deck with a beer and brat, or an aperol.

The Hossa Bar is a great stop for an afternoon aperitif on the deck in the sun.

St Moritz needs to be on your Swiss skiing bucket lift, as a great Swiss ski resort town with four ski areas all on one lift ticket. Other nearby ski resorts are Davos Klosters, Arosa Lenzerheide, and smaller resorts of Bivio and Savognin.
