Kühtai is a great little ski resort just 45 minutes from Innsbruck. This high alpine resort has spectacular Alps views and multiple aspects from Austria’s highest alpine base village at 2020 meters or 6,627′. Kühtai offers families modern lifts, ego pleasing low angle terrain, and with it high base elevation some of the best snow quality in the region. 

Kühtai offers high alpine terrain with spectacular Alps views and multiple aspects so you can follow the sun. Kuhtai has its own great little high alpine village perfect for families with several hotels, restaurants, and a good looking kids ski schools.

Kühtai is in fact Austria’s highest alpine base village at 2,020 meters or 6,627’, offering great lifts, ego pleasing terrain, and typically good snow given its elevation. There is nothing super steep, its also super pleasant skiing at Kuhtai. Skiing here, you have the bonus of a shared ticket with Hochoetz just 20 minutes bus ride away.

Kühtai is perfect for families with just enough hotels at the base, and well-organized kids ski schools. For an incredibly relaxing a week of family ski holiday, Kühtai requires no driving, walk to everything, just enough shops and restaurants, sunshine and skiing, and wonderful views in every direction.

Modern lifts like a Panoramic gondola and six packs bring skiers to Kühtai’s three-dozen well-groomed wide open pistes spread out on two sides of the valley. Venturing just a bit to the side of the prepared trails, free skiers will find some fresh low angle off-piste powder in between, still returning to the base of the lifts.

Kuhtai has 20 on-mountain huts, Hutte Maximillian is the best on-mountain chalet for lunch and schnapps at Kuhtai, always in the sun (warning they do not take reservations and it gets VERY busy). The music plays and the staff efficient serving Tyrolean fare Schnitzel, goulash, all the hearty favorites at this family run hut. For après ski there are a few bars at the base of Kuhtai.

Kuhtai, shares a lift ticket with nearby Hochoetz, in the Otztal Valley, a 20-minute free shuttle down a beautiful snow canyon to Ochsengarten and Hochoetz.

Hochoetz ski area is accessed by one of 2 gondolas. There are beautiful views, great pistes plus tons of off-piste and some beautiful on mountain huts. Hochoetz, also called Hoch and Hochotz, has an Iglu Snow Village and is very family-friendly also.
